Grand Master Darin Gibson
Grand Master Gibson has been training and instructing martial arts for more than 40 years and has introduced Tae Kwon-Do to many southern Alberta communities. His innovative leadership efforts have placed Legacy Tae Kwon-Do at the forefront of modern instruction, while maintaining the traditional roots of Korean martial arts. He was promoted to 9th Degree Black Belt in 2022 by Pioneer Grand Master C.K. Choi. He is the first Canadian and only the second person promoted to that rank by Grand Master Choi, world-wide.
Grand Master Gibson is the Founding President of United Traditional Tae Kwon-Do Canada, where he represents the art and promotes Tae Kwon-Do internationally. In 2015 Master Gibson was inducted into the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame.
A graduate of the University of Lethbridge (B.Ed.) Mr. Gibson was a finalist
in the Alberta “Excellence in Teaching Awards” for his work on the Kainai Reservation. His teaching resume also includes extensive work in treatment centres with at-risk children.
Master Colin Nonomura
Master Nonomura, a 8th degree black belt, became involved in martial arts at
the age of 16. For more that 35 years he has participated in countless
demonstrations and tournaments promoting Tae Kwon-Do. As a Senior Master
Instructor, Mr. Nonomura continues to raise the high standards of
instruction at Legacy Tae Kwon-Do Schools. Mr. Nonomura is Vice-President of
United Traditional Tae Kwon-Do Canada. In 2015 Master Nonomura was inducted
into the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame.
